IN ARTIST'S COLLECTION
This is an example of my recent focus on using the 'California vibe' approach to portraiture. I have been using black and white photographs as they rely solely on composition and values for an appealing image. I then apply vibrant colours paying attention to their values to render the image. The California vibe method is the invention of artist David Lobenberg whose workshop I attended. This approach allows me to marry the reality of portraiture with the abstraction of non-local colour.
