Girl with the Curls

I am interested in Chinese brush art because of its simplicity and diversity of brush work. I have praciticed India ink on rice paper to develop my brush technique. I also enjoy monochromatic painting because of the focus on value. I discovered the lovely effect of India ink on watercolour paper and because of my interest in the human figure I adapted this image of Mary Pickford from a Getty Images photo to apply what I have been practicing. Mary Pickford was a Canadian film pioneer.
