Storm's Brewing

This pastel painting was inspired by a feeling of a calm before the storm. The contrast of the dark, threatening skies and the cheerful yellow of the lichen on the rocks provided a play of contrast. This is a common west coast ocean image of a rugged shoreline with a threat of rain.
